my biggest accomplishment of 2013

I have been doing photography my whole life.  But I have been a "photographer" for five years.  And that is how long it has taken me to refer to myself as a photographer without apology, reservation or hesitation.

I always thought you needed a degree in photography, all of the super expensive equipment, a large studio, indoor lighting and non-stop clientele beating down your door.  Not so.  To be a photographer you do need more than an expensive professional-grade camera.  You need some knowledge of your camera, an artistic eye and a personality to interact with clients.

I'm not one who takes compliments well or pats herself on the back, but I have come to realize I have these qualities.  Confidence in my skills (though not always in my camera), an artistic eye and the voice to shoot my way.  For years I have been trying to shoot how everyone else wants and that has not made me happy. When I shoot what makes me happy, I know that my clients will love their end results.

For my repeat clients and new clients, thank you for your business this past year.  I look forward to shooting you and your family in the very near future.  If you are new to Suzie Bauman Photography, welcome.  I look forward to meeting you and spending time with you and the people you hold  most dear.

Here are just a few of my favorite images from this past year:
