pictures with purpose

A good snapshot
keeps a moment from running away

I used to think that any time I got together with friends and family, that I needed to take a gazillion pictures to document the day or event.  With our digital world and everyone owning a decent snap and shoot or DSLR, that made it even more obnoxious.  I would take hundreds of pictures only to end up with a few that I really loved.

Over the last year I have been shooting less, yet getting more quality shots.  Not always quality in crispness or lighting, but quality in meaning.  That's what is more important to me.  Time with my family is limited and I don't want to spend the entire day with a camera lens up to my eye (believe me, I've done my fair share of that!).

When I look at these pictures from last Thanksgiving I am an taken back to a beautiful day with my family.  Not a day where everything was picture perfect.  Not a day when all outfits were vogue and all hair styles were perfect.  But a day of mishaps, chaos and clutter.

As Thanksgiving approaches, plan ahead to spend less time taking a lot of pictures and more time enjoying your loved ones.  Take those pictures, but take them with intention.  These below are just a few from the day that I treasure.
