trinity preschool

Photographing preschoolers.  It's quite the undertaking.  Attempting to capture a smile on these little cuties was challenging my skills.  Some of the faces I got were quite humorous.  I deleted all of the ones that were not "worthy" of keeping but now I'm thinking that maybe I should have hung onto them for a special post on out-takes or blunders and bloopers.  These kids kept me on my toes both days.

Without fail, each would come to me, we would pick the background that best went with their outfit and it was on from there.  This is how each one went.  ME:  "Okay, can you sit on this chair for me and smile nicely?"  CHILD:  fake, cheesy grin  ME:  "That's not a real smile.  Can you give me a real smile?"  CHILD:  looks at me like I'm crazy and gives me a new, yet very much like the last, fake, cheesy grin.  ME:  "Please?  I know you can smile pretty.  Can you give me just ONE nice smile?"  CHILD:  looks at me like I'm crazy again  ME:  "Okay, you know what, you don't have to smile.  Just give me a nice, pleasant face.  You know, like when you're happy about something."  CHILD:  looks at me like I'm crazy.  Then I would give up and they would, 9 times out of 10, give me a nice smile.  You know, even if the smiles weren't real on all of them, they were some of the cutest faces I have ever had the privilege of photographing.  As I was going through each of the children's proofs, there was something about every one of them that I remembered as a quality that stole my heart.  I love my job!
